Celebrating Indigenous Leadership
Batchelor Institute CEO Joe Martin-Jard highlighted the significance of this appointment, stating, “Professor Kathryn Gilbey’s recent appointment to the ARC Indigenous Forum is an important achievement. A Strategic Step for Indigenous Research
The ARC, an independent Commonwealth entity, is committed to advancing knowledge and innovation for the benefit of the Australian community. On the establishment of the Indigenous Forum, ARC Acting CEO Dr Richard Johnson remarked, “The establishment of the ARC Indigenous Forum is such a positive and important moment for Australia’s research sector. The Forum will work closely with the ARC Board, bringing a unique and strategic focus to initiatives that will strengthen Indigenous leadership in the research sector, build opportunities for Indigenous-led and focused research, and support career pathways for emerging Indigenous researchers.”
Martin-Jard also expressed his support, adding, "This is an important appointment, and I am pleased that Kathryn will be providing her perspectives and advice into the ARC Indigenous Forum. Please join me in congratulating Kathryn on her appointment.”
