Nine from a total of 14 Certificate II in Construction graduates and their training officer made the long way from Gunbalanya to Batchelor to attend the 20th June ceremony.

The training delivered by Batchelor Institute is illustrating best practise by combining quality, project oriented, hands on training and development of positive ongoing relationships between the trainer and students.

This year’s training was delivered by Sam Halliday who also delivered the course last year. The CDEP West Arnhem Shire Council, negotiated with the Institute to bring Sam back in 2012 to delivery another course, which was even more successful due to Sam having developed those relationships by the time of the second course.

Wendy Kennedy, Literacy and Numeracy lecturer from Charles Darwin University, assisted students to develop measurements and calculation skills.

The students renovated a house, put a roof and deck on the CDEP office and installed a grandstand and scoreboard at the oval as part of the hands on training.

Congratulations to all graduates!
