National VET Legislation (NVR)
The NVR is the national set of standards is critical to the appropriate and effective regulation of vocational education and training, ensuring the integrity of qualifications awarded to learners and supporting the achievement of both improved productivity and social outcomes for all Australians.

It enables all working age Australians to develop the skills and qualifications needed to participate effectively in the labour market and contribute to Australia’s economic future. National TEQSA Legislation
TEQSA, the regulatory authority for Higher education providers such as Universities, Colleges etc have Threshold Standards which comprises of the;
- Provider Registration Standards
- Provider Category Standards
- Provider Course Accreditation Standards and
- Qualification Standards.
LEGISLATION
The aim of the Anti-Discrimination Act (the Act), and therefore the Anti-Discrimination Commission (ADC), is to promote recognition and acceptance of the right to equality of opportunity of persons regardless of an attribute to eliminate discrimination on the basis of an attribute and to eliminate sexual harassment
The objects of this Act are:(a) to eliminate, as far as possible, discrimination against persons on the ground of disability in the areas of:
- work, accommodation, education, access to premises, clubs and sport;
- the provision of goods, facilities, services and land;
- existing laws;
- the administration of Commonwealth laws and programs.
(b) to ensure, as far as practicable, that persons with disabilities have the same rights to equality before the law as the rest of the community
(c) to promote recognition and acceptance within the community of the principle that persons with disabilities have the same fundamental rights as the rest of the community.
The NVR Act replaces the AQTF and is regulated by the Australian Skills Quality Authority, a national authority. States and Territories do not regulate the Registered Training Organisations (RTO) in the Northern Territory.
The Act provides national consistency in the regulation of higher education and regulates higher education using a standards-based quality framework and principles relating to regulatory necessity, risk and proportionality.
The main object of this Act is to provide for a balanced and nationally consistent framework to secure the health and safety of workers and workplaces by protecting workers and other persons against harm to their health, safety and welfare through the elimination or minimisation of risks arising from work or from specified types of substances or plant. The Act also provides for fair and effective workplace representation, consultation, cooperation and issue resolution in relation to work health and safety.

The Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) is an Australian law which regulates the handling of personal information about individuals. This includes the collection, use, storage and disclosure of personal information.
The Act defines the legally enforceable rights of creators of creative and artistic works under Australian law. The scope of copyright in Australia is defined in the Australian Copyright Act 1968 (as amended), which applies the national law throughout Australia.

Information Act NT gives you the right to apply for access to NT government information. It is about enhancing government accountability and participation in our democratic system of government. It includes computer records, audiotapes, videotapes and CDs. It includes personal information about people and information about businesses. It is limited to records held by the organisation. It does not cover knowledge or views held by staff unless they have been recorded. It does not cover documents that once existed but have been destroyed.
